Marriott International Surges in India and Asia Pacific, Fortifying Global Presence
Marriott International, a strong player in global hospitality, expanded in 2023 across India and the Asia Pacific, except in China. With the addition of 12 properties in India and over 60 new properties across the Asia Pacific, excluding China, Marriott's operational hotels and residences soared past the 560 mark, registering a remarkable net rooms growth of over 10 percent compared to the previous year, according to a recent statement from the esteemed hospitality group.
Marriott's strategic expansion efforts have been pivotal in catering to the evolving needs of travelers. Over the past year, the company strategically augmented its portfolio by adding more than 60 properties across key travel markets such as Japan, India, and Vietnam. The introduction of these 12 new hotels in India alone bolsters Marriott's diverse offerings with approximately 1,431 rooms, as highlighted in the statement. Additionally, Marriott sealed over 80 deals across 13 markets, unveiling an ambitious plan for expansion with approximately 18,000 rooms in the pipeline.
As of 2023, Marriott's development pipeline for the Asia Pacific region stood firm, encompassing over 320 hotels and an impressive 69,000 rooms. This underscored the hospitality giant's unwavering commitment and robust growth trajectory in the area.
A notable milestone in Marriott's journey was the luxury segment's remarkable performance, with 15 percent of the deals in Asia Pacific in 2023 dedicated to luxury properties. This culminated in the grand opening of a record nine luxury hotels, including The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne, a significant landmark as Marriott's 1,000th hotel worldwide. This milestone symbolizes the brand's enduring legacy of excellence and hospitality, further solidifying its position as a global leader in luxury hospitality.
"With our record year of growth at Marriott International in APEC, we remain committed to meeting the demands of modern travelers underscored by our diverse portfolio of brands and strategic presence in new destinations," Rajeev Menon, President, Marriott International, for the region, said.
Marriott International is committed to shaping the future of hospitality worldwide through excellence and innovation.
